"Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who are alive.” Howard Thurman
Great quote, no? I just read it on Stacy Julian's blog and it reflects how I've been trying to live my life recently. I feel alive when I get to be creative. When I get those precious moments to spend in my studio. When someone sees my scrapbooks, cards, whatever and asks about them.
Another alive moment is when I see my kids at the end of a very long day at the office. Yesterday, my princess literally jumped up into my arms as soon the door opened at the daycare. She was all about the hugs and kisses. Poor kid, she is usually the last one to get picked up, and I was a little later than norm. I guess she was feeling a little lonely. And she is adjusting to playing with other little girls who are maybe just a bit too much like her. They are the only girls in their families. They enjoy bossing people around. They're usually the center of attention. So, when there are 5 little girls who all seem to like the Red rake for playing in the sandbox, well, I'm sure you can imagine what ensued. S has a bit of the evidence of what happened on her left cheek. She looks like she got into a fight, but really, it was from her pulling so hard on the rake, that when the others couldn't keep their grip, S got it in the face. Ouch!
This will be a fun weekend I hope. We're going to take a picnic to the park for dinner tonight, go to the PNE to visit with the little animals and see the Super Dog show tomorrow and head to White Pine Beach for Labour Day. And why is it that Labour Day always feels like the last day of summer? I mean, officially, we have until September 20th. So, to curb this feeling, I'm hoping to make 2 more weekend car trips before Ry's hockey season starts. Don't know where to, but I'm not yet willing to let summer go.
So, I hope you, my friends, have a good long weekend! Ciao!
